Jan. 19-21: Things to do in Denver this weekend
DENVER (KDVR) — The arctic blast in Denver is finally over, at least for the time being. This weekend will thankfully be much warmer than last.
The temperatures will stay in the 40 to 50-degree range this weekend, with lows just below freezing at night.
With avalanche warnings across the high country, it might be a good weekend to stay in the metro.
Things to do in Denver this weekend
Even though Drake postponed his concert at Ball Arena (again), there’s still plenty to do this weekend.
National Western Stock Show – All weekend
This is the last weekend for the annual stock show. If you haven’t stopped by for the western wear or a rodeo, there’s still some time. Events have been going on since early January, and activities will continue throughout the weekend.
The National Western Stock Show ends on Sunday, which means you can finally take down your Christmas lights.
Denver Boat Show – All weekend
In the market for a boat? At the Colorado Convention Center, local boat dealers and manufacturers are offering deals on 2024 models and supplies. The website says it’s Colorado’s largest boat show, although, who knows how many boats there are in Colorado…
Dare To Be Sexy: A ‘Weird Al’ Burlesque Tribute – Jan. 19
You have probably seen his unique satire on the internet. The show honors all the phases of Weird Al’s career, from his remakes of 80s and 2010 songs to his own odd music. It’s a burlesque show wrapped into a comedy with live music. If you haven’t figured it out already, spoiler alert, It’s going to be weird.
Josh Turner – Jan. 20
For less than $50, you can get an up-close view of Josh Turner at Grizzly Rose on Saturday. You may recognize the country singer from popular hits like “Your Man” and “Would You Go With Me.”
Après Skate Silent Disco – Jan. 20
If you’re missing out on skiing this weekend, you can still dress up for the occasion at McGregor Square. At 7 p.m. on Saturday. there will be a silent disco at the ice rink. Expect bright ski suits and retro mixes with live DJs.
Hairball – Jan. 20
The national touring act is coming to Denver to show the Mile High City a flashback to the 80s. They’ll perform classics from Van Halen, KISS, Motley Crue, Queen, Journey, Aerosmith and more.
Polar Bear 5K – Jan. 21
Gear up on Sunday morning for the run/walk in Washington Park. There are refreshments at the finish line along with awards and a costume contest. If you’re lucky, you might see a special appearance from Polie the polar bear.
Get out of the house and enjoy the warmth while it lasts, the snow is just getting started.
